Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of
your despatch No.440 dated 30th October, 1937, transmitting
a letter from the Chairman of Messrs. Thomas Cook and
Son, Limited, regarding the cost of sidings constructed
on the Kowloon-Cant on Railway to provide location for
certain coaches of the Compagnie Internationale des
Wagons-Lits and in reply to enclose for your information
a copy of a memorandum by the Manager, Kowloon-Canton Railway, containing the history of this transaction.
2. In the circumstances explained in this
memorandum I regret that I do not feel justified in
acceding to the request that this Government should
make a further contribution to the cost of storage of
the se coaches.
